My research covers a variety of topics in computational acoustics(CA) and inverse acoustic wave problems (IAWP). The research on CA is to develop accurate and efficient algorithms and techniques for acoustic prediction, optimization in the design stage, such as finite element method, boundary element method, ray-tracing method, statistical energy analysis, etc. IAWP covers a wide range of techniques related to inverse problems, such as near-field acoustic hologram, beamforming, acoustic visualization, and acoustic measurement and signal processing, etc. These two distinct types of research supplement each other. CA supplies a powerful tool for investigating the mechanism of generation, propagation of complicated acoustic source, which can facilitate the development of a robust IAWP. While the IAWP can identify, locate and even quantify the acoustic sources with the help of a microphone array, which can supply input data to CA for the acoustic prediction model of a really complicated acoustic radiator. Other advanced approaches for acoustic analysis based on one or several methods of these fundamental researches are also included in my research scope, such as acoustic radiation modes, active noise control, and acoustic aurialization, etc.

I am looking for master and Ph.D. students keen to devote himself to research either on CA or IAWP, or other emerging technologies (artificial intelligence, virtual reality) for acoustic problems. Students from multiple disciplines, including mechanical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics but not limited to, are welcomed to join us.
